Post-Operative Care. Only one aspect of the subsequernt care of the case will be mentioned. There has been a tendency to hasten weight-bearing by allowing the patient up as soon as the fifth day. Most surgeons now consider this too early, and find that post-operative effusions are much less common when weight-bearing is delayed for ten to fourteen days.
